The Massacre of the Democratic Congressmen in Florida
Republicans won all six closely contested U.S. House races. They ousted incumbents Ron Klein in South Florida, Alan Grayson and Suzanne Kosmas in Central Florida and Allen Boyd in the Panhandle. They also won two open seats in south and central Florida.
Especially stunning was Allen West’s victory over Klein by a clear margin in a swing district that straddles Broward and Palm Beach counties. West, an African-American retired lieutenant colonel, drew money and support from the tea party movement across the country.
