Ilhan Omar demands Twitter CLOSE Donald Trump's account

Ilhan Omar demands Twitter CLOSE Donald Trump's account after he retweets conspiracy theorist's false claim that she 'partied' on 9/11 anniversary and refuses to delete it

  • President Trump retweeted a conspiracy theorist's claim that Rep. Ilhan Omar danced at a party on the night of the 9/11 attack's anniversary
  • That's not true: Omar and other members of the Congressional Black Caucus were filmed dancing at a party on Friday night, September 13
  • But Trump amplified Terrence Williams' claim, tweeting that Omar and her supposed anti-American views 'will win us the Great State of Minnesota'
  • Friday's party was part of an annual week-long Congressional Black Caucus celebration
  • Photos shot Friday night show Omar and other black lawmakers wearing the same outfits they wore in the video footage of the dance party
  • Williams later deleted his tweet, following a pressure campaign directed at Twitter, but the president hasn't removed his promotion of it
  • Now Omar says Twitter should shut down Trump's account: 'I don't even know why his account is not fully suspended – why he's not deplatformed'
Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar said Wednesday that Twitter should shut down President Donald Trump's account because he hasn't deleted his retweet of a conspiracy theorist's false claim that she 'partied' on the anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks last week.
Trump circulated that claim Wednesday morning – leaving it up despite right-wing commentator Terrence Williams deleting his original message, which included footage of Omar dancing at a party on a different night.
'They have a responsibility and they set community standards and clearly the president has shown many-a-times that he has violated their community standards,' Omar told Politico.
'I don't even know why his account is not fully suspended – why he's not deplatformed.'
Williams had blasted the false claim to his 611,000 Twitter followers, saying: ''GET THIS WOMAN OUT OF OFFICE. Ilhan Omar partied on the anniversary of 9/11 because she believes "Some People Just Did Somethings".' [sic]
