Barack Obama No Extra Tax Cuts for the Rich Beyond the First $250,000

G20 Summit news has not been strictly confined to international news as President Barack Obama said Friday in Seoul his No. 1 priority is to preserve tax cuts for middle-class Americans. Obama spoke at a news conference at the end of the G20 Summit. He said he is not caving in to Republican demands to extend Bush administration tax cuts for the wealthy, CNN reported. "Here's the right interpretation: I want to make sure that taxes don't go up for middle-class families starting on January 1 -- my number one priority for those families and for our economy. I also believe that it would be fiscally irresponsible for us to permanently extend the high-income tax cuts," the president said. "I think that would be a mistake, particularly when we've got our Republican friends saying that their number one priority is making sure that we are dealing with our debt and our deficit." Obama said he wouldn't negotiate tax cuts at the G20 Summit. He said he would hold

New Republican Black Congressmen anti-Muslim Bigot Allen West and Tim Scott

Image
Election Day victories for two Black Republicans raise a rare question in the House of Representatives in the 112th Congress: How will two African American members of the Grand Old Party interact with the Congressional Black Caucus? Fourteen Black Republicans ran for Congress in the Nov. 2 midterm elections but, after all the votes were counted, only Tim Scott, a South Carolina businessman, and Allen West, a Florida-based Army veteran of the Iraq War, will take seats. They are the first African-American Republicans to be elected to Congress since 1995. Anti-Muslim Bigot Allen West served in Iraq. Good job. http://www.afro.com/

The Republican Leading Politicians for 2012 are Vocal Christians Tough as Nail

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, a possible 2012 Republican presidential contender, quietly addressed a gathering of evangelical leaders in Minneapolis today. Pawlenty, an evangelical, tried to get the McCain campaign to focus more on born-again Christians last year but to little avail. Pawlenty's appearance today is a reminder that, for all the talk of the Christian right's flagging influence, the current field of Republican front-runners for 2012 presidential race is composed entirely of social conservatives. Besides Pawlenty, the field includes: •Sarah Palin, a nondenominational Christian and former Pentecostal who is opening up about her faith. •Newt Gingrich, a recently converted Catholic who's stepping up efforts to organize religious conservatives. •Bobby Jindal, a Catholic conservative and darling of the Christian right. •Mark Sanford, an Episcopalian whom conservative Christian activists tried to draft into the presidential race last year. •Mitt Romney, a Mormon who t

Fanatic Christian Oklahoma War of Terror Against Islam and Muslims the Sharia Law

Image
Looks like Oklahomans will not, repeat not, be subject to Sharia law anytime in the near future. Local media in the state is reporting that ballot initiative SQ755, which bars state courts from using Islamic or international law, is on the path to approval– Yes votes outweighing Nos by more than two-to-one, with about 40-percent of the precincts in. Constitutional scholars point out that Sharia law is religious law, and the first words of the First Amendment say, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion." Here in the nutty, right-wing, Bible Belt state of Oklahoma, we go to the polls Tuesday to cast our ballots and, hopefully, stop the incessant radio and TV commercials from those who are sneaking in our borders and accosting our way of life. I am talking, of course, about the politicians. Seriously, folks, I am willing to give my vote to the first candidate to shut up for a full five minutes. Should there be ban on the ten commandments? Tea Party Nation leader Judson Phillips "Don't Vote for this Muslim Keith Ellison" Minnesota

The head of a national Tea Party group says voters should oppose Rep. Keith Ellison—because he’s a Muslim. In a letter sent out last weekend, Tea Party Nation leader Judson Phillips enumerated his grievances with the Minnesota rep thusly, according to the New York Daily News: “He is the only Muslim member of Congress. He supports the Council on American-Islamic Relations [and] Hamas and has helped Congress send millions of tax [dollars] to terrorists in Gaza.” Ellison’s also faced Islamophobic attacks from his opponent, Lynne Torgerson, who on her website accuses Ellison of “helping to raise money to be sent to terrorists,” based on his work with the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Muslim civil liberties group. Ellison is the first Muslim ever to be elected to Congress, but he is not in fact the only one; Andre Carson of Indiana is also Muslim. http://www.newser.com/story/103904/tea-party-on-rep-keith-ellison-dont-vote-for-this-muslim.html

The Massacre of the Democratic Congressmen in Florida

Republicans won all six closely contested U.S. House races. They ousted incumbents Ron Klein in South Florida, Alan Grayson and Suzanne Kosmas in Central Florida and Allen Boyd in the Panhandle. They also won two open seats in south and central Florida. Especially stunning was Allen West’s victory over Klein by a clear margin in a swing district that straddles Broward and Palm Beach counties. West, an African-American retired lieutenant colonel, drew money and support from the tea party movement across the country. http://weblogs.sun-sentinel.com/news/politics/dcblog/2010/11/republicans_gain_from_floridas_1.html

Why There Still Monkies Answering Christine O'Donnell

Image
First, I am not going to give you the common brush off to your question: "We didn't evolve from monkeys, monkeys and humans share a common ancestor". That's just avoiding the question, and frankly, I don't agree with it. I'm going to assume that when you say "monkey," you not only include those animals called monkeys that are alive today, but also animals that looked and behaved like monkeys that lived millions of years ago. An animal that lived about 40 million years ago, known as Aegyptopithecus, is believed by scientists to be a direct ancestor of humans. If I saw that animal swinging through the tree branches today, I'd certainly call it a monkey. I'm going to go one step further and assume that you are using the term monkey even more colloquially, and include chimpanzees and gorillas under the general umbrella of monkeys. Technically those are apes, but since they are non-human primates that are indeed decended from monkeys, let's go
