Hannity Fox Show Can Not Save Donald Trump Down Polls Political Analysis by Sherif Monem August-25-2016

Donald Trump holds a 'poll' with the audience at a town hall event held by FOX News' Sean Hannity that aired on Wednesday's broadcast of Hannity.

"They'll pay back taxes. They have to pay taxes. There's no amnesty as such. There's no amnesty," Trump said of his immigration plan.

Trump then polled the audience. He asked, "Well, who wants them? Who wants them? Who's the guy who wants them thrown out?" He then asked, "Who doesn't want them thrown out? Who does not want them thrown out?"

Trump expressed how he enjoyed asking the crowd what he should do.

"This is like a poll!" he told Hannity. "And I love the guy that stood up and said -- where is that guy? I love this guy. That's my guy. I mean, I get it. I get it. And I understand what you're saying."

"But this is sort of like a poll," Trump said. "And this is what I'm getting all over the country, Please, please -- we are going to come out with a decision very soon. The bad guys are out of here. Now, that one, we agree on."

Full transcript, via FOX News:
HANNITY: Let me -- let me go back -- I know we got into this a little bit last night, but I think this is going to be a big issue. And that is, OK, you're not a criminal alien. You committed no crimes, but you didn't respect our laws and sovereignty.

You also seem to be indicating there might be something other than they have to go back. Am I reading that right?

TRUMP: Look, we have to follow the laws of our country.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

TRUMP: We have to follow the laws.

HANNITY: Right. That means they go back.

TRUMP: We have to follow the laws. Now, can we be -- and I'll ask the audience. You have somebody who's terrific, who's been here...

HANNITY: Twenty years.

TRUMP: Right, a long time. A long court proceeding, long everything, OK, in other words, to get them out. Can we go through a process, or do you think they have to get out? Tell me. I mean, I don't know. You tell me.

Trump: Something wrong with his right eye.
Does Donald Trump have any shot to win? His chances improved a little over the last week, but he still finds himself trailing Hillary Clinton in the nationals polls by an average of 6 points and losing to the Democrat in most of the key battleground states, including Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. If the election were held today, Real Clear Politics' average of state polls gives Clinton 272 electoral votes without any of the "tossup" states included. In other words, at this point, she wins easily. Though many of the polls are painting a rather gloomy picture for the Republican, some surveys offer a glimmer of hope, including an Aug. 24 LA Times/USC poll, which shows the two candidates tied at 44%.
Clinton, who once held a commanding 11-point lead by average in late March, saw her advantage evaporate over the next few months. After dramatic movement for Trump in late May, including a brief national lead following the Republican National Convention and the FBI's damaging report on Clinton's private email server, the two candidates were deadlocked at 44.3% on July 29, the day after the Democratic National Convention. Over the next three weeks, however, the polls took a downward turn for the Republican, with Clinton building an 8-point lead nationally. Now, a month since the DNC concluded, Clinton maintains a 6-point lead, topping a majority of the polls, though the gap between the candidates has narrowed slightly.
As of Aug. 24, RCP's general election average shows Clinton leading Trump in a head-to-head matchup, 47.7% to 41.7%. Clinton currently leads in six of RCP's featured polls (Quinnipiac, Bloomberg, ABC News/Wash Post, NBC News/SM, Reuters/Ipsos, and Economist/YouGov). The largest lead for Clinton among those polls is 10 points (Quinnipiac). Over the last week, Trump has made some gains, including managing to tie Clinton in the LA Times/USC poll, which has consistently shown a tighter race in recent weeks than other leading surveys:
