The Harvard-educated Massachusetts native initiated Project Apollo (the first manned expedition to the moon) and abolished the federal death penalty during his tenure as president.
JFK entered office with a 72 percent approval rating and served for 2.83 years before he was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald in November 1963 at age 46.
