Sarah Palin the Master of Demagoguery Egypt and Obama Approach

Sarah Palin "Apparently President Obama Can't See Egypt And Libya From His House"

Although Sarah Palin has nothing to offer regarding Egypt she bumble mumble about 3:00-am and Barack Obama. Only attacking Radical Islamists.
Sarah Palin Blasts Obama's Handling of Egypt

Sarah Palin blasted the Obama administration's handling of the Egypt crisis on Saturday in an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network.
"This is that 3 a.m. White House phone call, and it seems for many of us trying to get that information from our leader in the White House, it seems that that call went right to the answering machine."
Palin's reference to a 3 a.m. phone call referred to the 2008 bruising primary battle between now-President Obama and now-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton over responsiveness to unexpected foreign policy crises.
In the CBN interview, which was conducted Friday immediately following Palin's speech in honor of President Ronald Reagan's 100 birthday but aired Saturday night, the former Alaska governor questioned who might lead Egypt after President Hosni Mubarak if he were to resign.
"Is it going to be the Muslim Brotherhood," Palin asked. "We should not stand for that, or with that, or by that. Any radical Islamists. No, that is not who we should be supporting and standing by ... we need to find out who was behind all of the turmoil and the revolt and the protests so that good decisions can be made in terms of who we will stand by and support."

Palin suggested in the interview that the Obama Administration is keeping such information from the American public.
"Nobody yet has explained to the American people what they know, and surely they know more than the rest of us know, who it is who will be taking the place of Mubarak and I'm not real enthused about what it is that, that's being done on a national level and from D.C. in regards to understanding all the situation there in Egypt.
"And in these areas that are so volatile right now because obviously it's not just Egypt but the other countries too where we are seeing uprisings, we know that now more than ever, we need strength and sound mind there in the White House."
Palin is one of several potential candidates for the Republican 2012 primary who have criticized the White House's handling of the Egypt situation, although Republican leadership from Congress have been more supportive of the policy thus far.

On the Media, Faith and the 2012 Race

Egypt was not the only topic discussed in the CBN interview, according to a partial transcript released by the network.
When asked what she might do differently if she were to run for the Presidency, Palin said, "I would continue on the same course of not really caring what other people say about me or worrying about the things that they make up, but having that thick skin and a steel spine, knowing that what is needed in America are those things that Ronald Reagan did espouse and what he lived."
Palin expressed surprise at the reaction to her decision not to turn down the coveted keynote speaker position at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington next week. She said she simply did not have time, but she encouraged political debate in general.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sarah Palin misrepresented the details of the Affordable Care Act and repeated the term "death panels" as a purely political attack on the bill. So what, you may say, that's politics!
In fact, her misrepresentation had a serious negative effect: an important benefit for seniors and terminally ill individuals was dropped from the final version. The original bill called for Medicare to pay physicians to counsel patients on the benefits of living wills and advanced directives that record their wishes on end of life decisions. Where tested, this practice has achieved all the benefits expected.
Many terminally ill patients endure a painful, undignified and extremely expensive departure because they cannot communicate their wishes or did not do so prior to becoming ill. Most patients, when asked, want to die at home or in a hospice, not hooked up to all kinds of machines that could bankrupt the family. (A Harvard study found that 62 percent of bankruptcies are due to medical expenses.) Palin's sound bite, a political winner, was and is completely untrue and was a loser for terminally ill patients, their families and our health care system.
Palin, undeterred by the facts, is at it again. Now she claims that the concept of best practices sharing is a "death panel." The panel of doctors and health care professionals was created by the bill to identify the best medical practices across the country and publicize them so others can adopt them to prevent errors, improve care and reduce costs. A win, win, win, win for patients, Medicare, families and society.
Let's hope Palin's irresponsible demagoguery and rhetoric doesn't turn a very successful practice, used in business for decades, into a lose, lose, lose, lose.

Sarah Palin -- A Demagogue in a Skirt

Webster's Dictionary defines a demagogue as "a leader who obtains power by means of impassioned appeals to the emotions and prejudices of the populace." Governor Palin, in her stump speeches this week, fits this dictionary definition. Palin falsely and despicably portrays Senator Obama as a terrorist sympathizer or perhaps even a terrorist himself because he served on the board of a Chicago educational reform organization with Bill Ayers. Palin does not tell her crowds that Senator Obama was a child when Ayers was involved in anti-Vietnam war bombings and that Senator Obama has condemned such activities. This "guilt by association" smear is designed to appeal to the emotions of Americans who are fearful of more terrorist attacks from Middle Eastern terrorists, hence her rallies also emphasize Senator Obama's middle name.
Palin is appealing to long standing nativist prejudices -- the fear of the stranger in our midst. Obama is not like "us" according to McCain-Palin and "us" is a code word for the "white" descendants of European immigrants. In their worldview, Obama is not like "us" because he is of mixed racial heritage and as a young boy; he lived in a predominantly Muslim country. His schooling in Indonesia has been falsely described as a madrassa and many e-mail chain letters have warned people that Obama is a secret Muslim. Of course, this makes him even more suspect because many Americans foolishly believe that all Muslims are terrorists.
Palin claims that Obama is un-American because he does not see the country as she and her followers do. But according to news reports, Governor Palin and her husband have held recent memberships in the Alaskan Independence Party, a group working for the secession of Alaska from America. Could not such a recent association be fairly deemed to be un-American?
Palin is a demagogue because she is stirring up emotional fears, hatred, and prejudice in the electorate solely for her own political gain. All Americans of good conscience need to speak out against what she is doing, most importantly Senator McCain. We have seen vicious demagogues in our country in the past, but they wore pants and their power was limited because they were governors of a few southern states and a senator from the Upper Midwest. The only candidate for the second highest national office we have seen before that was even close to Sarah Palin was Spiro Agnew. But his rhetoric against the "nattering nabobs of negativism" was not really dangerous unlike the hateful personal attacks on Senator Obama by the skirt wearing Palin.
