Patrick Joseph "Pat" Toomey, Sr. (born November 17, 1961) is an American politician. He was a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania, representing the Lehigh Valley-based 15th congressional district from January 1999 to January 2005, when he retired after running for a seat in the United States Senate. From 2005 to 2009.
HARRISBURG, Pa. — Pat Toomey, who as a little-known congressman nearly defeated Sen. Arlen Specter in the 2004 primary, announced Wednesday that he will mount another challenge when Specter seeks the Republican nomination for a sixth term next year.

Bernie Sanders’ upset in the Michigan primary Tuesday can be attributed, in part, to a strong showing in Dearborn, Michigan, which has the  largest concentration of Arab Americans  in the nation. Sanders  won almost 60 percent of the vote  there, besting rival Hillary Clinton. Apparently, something about Sanders resonated with residents. “Believing in something unpopular and fighting for those things is true courage and bravery.
